  • WhatsApp is planning to introduce dark theme in its Android app soon.
  • WhatsApp has rolled out a new update on to its Android beta app.
  • WhatsApp has rolled out dark splash screen on to its beta app on Android smartphones.
WhatsApp has long been known to be working on implementing dark theme or dark mode in its Android app. In the past we have heard a number of reports that have detailed various sections that the Facebook-owned social messaging platform was reconstructing in the dark theme for its Android app. And now, a new report indicates that the company is closer than ever in rolling out dark theme on to its Android based app.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, the blog that tracks development in WhatsApp, the company has implemented dark splash screen in the beta version of its Android app. While the company hasn't officially rolled out dark theme on its Andriod based app yet, it has released the 2.19.311 update for beta testers of its Android app. This update, as per the blog site, brings some 'hidden details' including the dark splash screen to the app. This means that if you are using WhatsApp's beta app on your Android smartphone, you might be able to see how certain elements of the app would look when dark theme is finally implemented.
In addition to the implementation of dark splash screen, the popular social messaging app has also made some changes to its dark theme.
As per the screenshots shared by the blogsite, WhatsApp has refined the look of the lock icon in the dark bubble within its Android app, which now looks more clean and balanced.
As I mentioned before, WhatsApp has been actively workinng to implement dark theme in its Android app. And last month we saw exactly how WhatsApp would offer or should I say implement dark theme in the app. According to a report by WABetaInfo, the company would offer a new Themes options in the Settings menu of the app.
Here users will be able to pick if they want to stick to regular light theme or opt for the dark theme, which is likely to adopt blue night colours. WhatsApp will also offer a third option, this option would use the system default option for implementing dark theme in the app.
